The Way Forward: Proactively Assessing

As we continue to participate in the realities of the world, both our individual and collective consciousness are becoming more complex. Coupled with our innate curiosity, we are continually discovering and living different models of reality. However, this constant loop of adjusting our way of living to our environment can stifle our individuation process.

If one is always being caught by the decisions of the institutions they’re a part of and the uncertainty brought by them, we are all on a pathway where we invest our time and effort in making sure that our lives are aligned with the present system (conformity), rather than questioning and taking action on why the present system makes us struggle to live and prosper (participation).

In the past, my thinking always revolved around the ideologies brought by the capitalistic systems: to work hard; to study hard; to join organizations that will produce a higher chance of obtaining a job with an ideal salary. This thinking was a product of the fast culture, which, in hindsight, influences how I want to live my life.

And the fact that I’m the only son in the family, it’s essential for me to succeed in this uncanny world since the expectations of the many were like this: “Victor should graduate, become a doctor, and help us thrive.” I’m not enraged with their expectations nor bound by them, but this is an underlying issue that affects the thinking… the psyche of the many.

Thus, I had to become conscious of my role and position in this world, rather than a person who chooses what role they should become from the choices given to them by the present systems. Now, I’m proactively assessing how my culture, gender, and social class can aid me to explore the potentialities that reside within me and change the aforementioned models of reality that the many have integrated into their lives.

It’s a long process, but it will be done.
